IP Lookup

Find location and details for any IP address.

What is an IP lookup?

Every device that connects to the internet uses an IP address. An IP lookup shows the public information linked to an address: its approximate location, the internet provider or organization that uses it, and the network it belongs to.

It is useful for checking where a connection comes from, understanding entries in a server log, or finding out who runs a server.

What you will see

Each result is split into location, network and flags.

FieldMeaning
LocationCountry, region, city, postal code, coordinates and time zone, as an estimate.

How accurate is it?

Location from an IP address is always an estimate.

  • Country. Usually reliable.
  • City. Approximate and sometimes wrong.
  • VPNs, proxies and mobile networks. The location shown may be far from the real user.
  • Not a street address. An IP lookup never gives a name or an exact address.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about IP Lookup.

Can I find the exact address of a person from an IP address?

No. You only get an approximate area and the network provider, never a name or a street address.

Why does the location look wrong?

Providers route traffic through central points, and VPNs or mobile networks hide the real position. City level is the least reliable part.

Does it support IPv6?

Yes. You can enter IPv4 or IPv6 addresses.

Can I search a domain name?

No, enter an IP address. To find the address of a domain, use DNS Lookup and read its A record.

Why can I not look up 192.168.1.1?

Private addresses are used inside local networks. They are not public, so no public data exists for them.
