Blacklist Check

Verify if an IP or domain is blacklisted.

What is a blacklist check?

A blocklist, also called a blacklist or DNSBL, is a public list of IP addresses and domains linked to spam or abuse. Mail servers and security tools use these lists to decide whether to block messages or connections.

This tool checks an IP address or a domain against several lists at the same time, so you can quickly see if emails from it are at risk of being rejected.

How to read the results

Each list returns one of three outcomes.

ResultMeaning
ListedThe list reports this address or domain.
CleanThe list does not report it.
UnreliableThe list refused the query or did not answer in time. Do not treat this as clean.

If you are listed

What to do next.

  • Find the cause. Common causes are a hacked account, malware, an open mail relay or a sudden burst of email.
  • Fix it first. Removal requests are usually refused if the problem is still there.
  • Follow the list rules. Each list has its own removal process on its website.
  • Check again later. Lists update at different speeds, so results can take time to change.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about Blacklist Check.

Does a listing mean I am a spammer?

Not necessarily. Lists differ in how strict they are, and an address shared with other users can be listed because of someone else.

What does unreliable mean?

The list did not give a usable answer, for example because it limits queries. Try again later.

What is checked when I enter a domain?

The domain itself is checked on domain lists, and the IP addresses it points to are checked on IP lists.

Can I be sure an address is safe if it is clean?

No. A clean result only means these lists do not report it right now.
