Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
This website, DNS Tools, is operated by [Your name or business name], based in [Country]. You can contact us at [contact email address].
2. What this policy covers
DNS Tools lets you look up DNS records, IP address information, reverse DNS names, domain registration data and blocklist status. This policy explains what information is handled when you use these tools, why, and who else receives it.
3. Information we handle
- What you search for. The domain names and IP addresses you enter are used to produce your results. To keep the service fast, results are stored in a temporary cache on our server for a limited time, up to 24 hours depending on the tool.
- Your IP address. We use it to count how many requests are made per minute, so that the service stays available for everyone. This count is kept only for a short time. On the What Is My IP page, the address is also shown back to you and is not stored.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web server or hosting provider may record standard technical information such as IP address, date, time and requested page. These logs are kept for [retention period, e.g. 30 days].
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name or email address in order to use the tools. This website does not currently set cookies.
4. Why we use this information and our legal basis
- To provide the tools and show you results.
- To keep the service secure, fast and available, and to prevent abuse.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in providing, securing and running the service. We do not use this information for advertising or profiling.
5. Who receives what you search for
To answer your request, the value you enter is passed to the public services below. They have their own privacy policies.
| Tool | Service that receives the value |
|---|---|
| DNS Lookup, MX Lookup, SPF Check, DMARC Check, DKIM Check, Reverse DNS | Google Public DNS and Cloudflare DNS (the domain name or IP address you entered, the DKIM selector if you enter one, and the mail server, include and report-address domains found in the records). On the What Is My IP page, your own IP address is sent to find its host name. |
| IP Lookup, What Is My IP | ip-api.com (the IP address you entered, or your own address on the What Is My IP page). [Remove this sentence if you use an encrypted connection:] This connection may not be encrypted. |
| Domain Tools | IANA and the registry RDAP server for the domain extension (the domain name you entered). |
| Blacklist Check | Public blocklist DNS servers, queried through our server’s DNS resolver (the IP address or domain name you entered). |
We do not sell your information. Apart from the services above and our hosting provider, we do not share it with anyone.
6. International transfers
DNS Tools is used by visitors around the world. The website is operated from the country shown above, and the services listed in section 5 may process data in other countries, including countries whose data protection laws differ from those where you live. By using the tools, you understand that the value you search for is sent to these services in order to answer your request.
7. How long we keep information
- Cached search results: up to 24 hours.
- Request counters linked to your IP address: a few minutes.
- Server logs: [retention period].
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California or other places with data protection laws), you may have the right to:
- ask whether we hold information about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate information corrected or your information deleted;
- restrict or object to how your information is used;
- receive your information in a portable format, where this applies;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To make a request, write to [contact email address]. We will reply within the time required by the law that applies to you. We cannot look up information by name alone, so we may ask for the IP address and approximate time of your visit to find it.
9. Cookies
DNS Tools does not currently use cookies. If this changes, for example by adding analytics or advertising, this policy will be updated.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please do not search for anything you consider confidential.
11. Children
DNS Tools is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
