Domain Tools

Check domain information, expiration and more.

What does Domain Tools show?

Domain Tools shows the public registration details of a domain name. The data is read from RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS, which registries use to publish information about registered domains.

You can see when a domain was registered, when it expires, which registrar manages it and which name servers it uses.

What you will see

The result is grouped into registration details, status and name servers.

Why check a domain?

Common reasons people use this tool.

  • Before buying. See how old a domain is and when it expires.
  • Tracking expiry. Make sure an important domain is renewed in time.
  • Investigating a site. A very new domain can be a warning sign when you review a suspicious link.
  • Troubleshooting. Confirm the registrar and name servers after a transfer or change.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about Domain Tools.

Why can I not see the owner name?

Registries and registrars hide personal contact details by default to protect privacy. The registrar, dates and status are still shown.

What is RDAP?

RDAP is the Registration Data Access Protocol. It replaces WHOIS and returns structured, standardized data.

Why does it say no registration record was found?

The domain may not be registered. This alone does not prove it can be bought, so check with a registrar.

Why do some domain extensions not work?

Some extensions, especially some country-code ones, do not provide RDAP, so no data can be shown for them.
